You know how your baby instantly falls asleep in the backseat whenever you’re driving? Well, this dad found an ingenious way to bring the soothing motion of the car into his home via a remote-control truck that doubles as a sleep space.

  1. “The Most Awesome Bed Ever”

Moving on up from a crib to a big kid bed can be tough. But dad – and Stanford medical professor – Eric Strong managed to make the transition unbelievably fun. Over the course of two months, he built his son basically the most amazing bed known to mankind, complete with a slide, secret door, pulley system and bookshelves.

When it doubt, go for a lullaby. David Motola’s 5-month-old son couldn’t fall asleep because of an earache. So David took to the piano. His amazing rendition of “Brahms’ Lullaby” did the trick in no time.

Nathan Dailo of Sydney, Australia wowed the parenting world with a technique that got his 3-month old sleeping in less than 60 seconds. How did he do it? By simply waving a tissue over his son’s face.

This hack doesn’t involve a chocolate factory, but it does require channeling your inner Oompa Loompa. One dad found that his newborn daughter drifted off to dreamland in a matter of seconds if he rocked her and repeated the words “Oompa Loompa.”

Kristy Ojala is Nanit’s Digital Content Director. She spends way too much time looking at maps and weather forecasts and pictures of Devon Rex cats and no-cook dinners. A former sleep champion, she strives to share trustworthy somnabulism tips with other parents—praying for that one fine day when no tiny humans wake her up while it’s still dark out.
