Whether you’re about to welcome your first baby or have a family of five, parents deserve—and need—all the help you can get. And at Nanit, we’re all about providing it.
Nanit was recently featured in the BBC’s new docuseries, The Human Component, which explores how technology can assist with some of humanity’s biggest challenges and threats. The series highlighted how Nanit data reveals the connection between sleep and a child’s mood and learning abilities, which can be leveraged by parents and researchers to support kids’ development.
In short, our pro parenting tools help parents feel more confident, connected, and capable of meeting the many curveballs that life throws your way, whether that’s a missed nap, too many nighttime wakeups, or the desperate need to get a little (or a lot!) more sleep. Wondering about milestones and how well your little one is growing? We can help there, too.
This job of parenting? We know you can do it. Here’s how we make it a little easier:
1. Nanit helps you manage your mental load
Two days after getting married, Shay and Mohan Tripathi discovered their first baby was on the way. “Our first reaction was like, ‘Whoa, life just got real real fast,’” laughs Shay in the BBC’s The Human Component. It’s a feeling any parent can relate to: Diaper changes, feedings, bedtimes, nap times, your own to-do lists. There’s a lot to stay on top of when a baby enters the picture and it can easily get overwhelming.
One of our goals at Nanit is to help unburden parents with the endless decisions and questions. Our solutions give parents peace of mind and allows you to check in on your sleeping little ones from wherever you are, be it the next room or across the world - as well as gather vital data as to your child’s sleep behaviors. We carefully translate the data into an easily digestible dashboard report so you can understand your baby’s patterns and overall wellness, all in one app.
Nanit also recently added the new Care Logs feature, which gives you and your caregiving crew an easy way to note down all those important details—when your baby last ate and for how long, when they pooped—in the same app you’re already using to monitor and track their sleep and milestones.
2. How is your baby doing? Nanit makes it easy to get the answers
Is your baby getting enough sleep? Are they warm enough during the night? The Nanit app consolidates all the information you want and need about your baby into one easy-to-find place. And you can share the data with anyone in your caregiving village—your partner, nannies and babysitters, other family members—so it’s easier to divide up caretaking duties and take breaks when you need them.
3. Nanit’s data helps inform your daily parenting decisions
“Sleep affects so many things for a baby: their growth, development, mood, and how they learn and behave during the day,” says Dr. Natalie Barnett, Nanit’s VP of Clinical Research, in the BBC docuseries. Nanit’s safe, innovative technology has made the company a go-to research collaborator for sleep scientists around the world. For example, Dr. Sarah Berger of City University of the New York College of Staten Island and Nanit Lab (Nanit’s team of sleep researchers and experts) has used Nanit data to illustrate that babies may wake up more at night when they are approaching a developmental milestone such as crawling or walking.
“We’ve found that the movements babies are doing when they wake up in the middle of the night are actually related to the skills that they’re learning,” Dr. Berger explains in The Human Component. “So we think that babies might actually be practicing their new skills in their sleep.” Exciting realizations like these are just some of the ways Nanit’s data helps parents predict transitions and adjust routines to take the best care of your baby.
4. Nanit helps parents feel like themselves again
The Tripathis credit Nanit as being a huge part of how they get sleep with two kids under two. “Because the camera system comes with so many features,” explains Shay, “it helps us feel more comfortable at night. And even during the daytime with naps, the amount of information that I started to learn about my baby’s sleep helped me learn how to gear my children towards better sleep habits and being able to sleep through the night.”
5. Nanit tools can grow with your kids
The Nanit Lab’s researchers work closely with Nanit’s product developers so that important scientific sleep breakthroughs can be incorporated into the app and relayed to parents across multiple stages of their child’s growth. Nanit delivers personalized tips, bedtime routines, and other solutions tailored to your child’s age and needs. And our devices include features like Ok to Wake (which utilizes the Pro Camera and Sound+Light to let your toddler know when it’s okay to get up) and unique alerts to teach your child healthy sleep habits and boundaries.
Our goal at Nanit is to make your parenting job simpler and less stressful. Need an extra set of eyes? A bedtime strategy? To better understand your child’s development? Count on us as part of your support team, a resource that gives you the info you need when you need it so you can get back to living your life.
